Empire Safety Council Driver Safety Course

The Ulster County Office for the Aging is offering two Empire Safety Council Driver Safety Courses this summer. These courses provide proven driving techniques to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road and may make participants eligible for a multi-year discount on their automobile insurance.

Registration Information

  • Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.
  • Registration fee: $30.00
  • This is not an AARP program.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for registration.

Payment Deadlines:

  • July 31 course: Payment due by Monday, July 27, 2026.
  • August 7 course: Payment due by Monday, August 3, 2026.

Pre-payment reserves your place in the class. Exact cash payments will be accepted on the day of the course only.

Course Details

  • Please arrive by 9:00 AM to sign in, collect course materials, and be seated.
  • The course lasts approximately six hours and begins promptly at 9:00 AM.
  • Please bring your own lunch.
  • A 30-minute lunch break and two 10-minute breaks will be provided.

Participants arriving late for the start of class will receive a refund. Participants who do not return after lunch will not receive a refund and will not receive attendance credit.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate by mail (approximately two weeks after the class) that may be submitted to their insurance company for a possible insurance discount.
